A few years before I painted this watercolour I happened to spot a postcard in a shop which showed Portmeirion with Snowdon behind. The photographer had used a large lens to exaggerate the height of Snowdon as well as its nearness to Portmeirion. II was quite taken with the shot and it inspired me to paint a wtaercolour of the sam view. After searching I discovered where the photograph had been taken. My depiction I admit has also taken some liberties, not as much as the postcard though.
