Without doubt the Matterhorn is the most iconic peak on earth. Instantly recognisable to even people who have never ventured on a mountain. It has been painted by thousands of landscape painters over the years. My painting has  been inspired by one of the greatest mountain painters that's ever lived, Edward Theodore Compton, his Alpine oils and watercolours are of the highest order. He was an Englishman who moved to Germany to live as a young man and spent the rest of his life painting the mountains, valleys, villages and people of the Alps.
